Reading aloud comprehension is so very important. This is an oral or written assessment that can be given to your students to see exactly what they are understanding from the text. The assessements above are quick reads that students can read aloud to the teacher and then answer the following questions so that you are able to determine what they were able to gleam from the reading. This story can be read to them aloud or they can read it to you the teacher aloud and then answer the questions. It should take approximately 10 minutes from beginning to end. This is an informal formative assessment but can also be used as a formal formative assessment if needed. This assessment can be used for students from kindergarten to third grade. This type of assessent can be given in small group or whole group however, each student should turn in their own answers.
