Literacy Interest Inventory
Literacy Interest Inventory:
The interest survey helps a teacher to have a better understanding of what interests a student this is an informal formative assessment for reading that should only take about ten minutes per student if given to Pre-K through first grade students. It should be given individually rather than whole group or small group to get a more accurate statement from the students. This assessment can also be given on a computer to students that are able to read but when given to Pre-k it is best if it is verbally given. These assessments where found at pinterest.com and adventuresinliteracyland.com. On a personal note I believe this survey/assessment is one of the most important ones a teacher can give a student so that they are able to help draw in the students attention to learning to read by using things that interest them. Learning to read can be daunting, this type of assessment helps to make a student feel more comfortable and before they realize they are reading. Helps with some students level of anxiety over reading.
