Sight Words/Vocabulary
Sight words are an important part of teaching a student to read. There are two types of sight words that can be found to teach to the students. These are the Dolch sight words and the Fry sight words. The assessments above were found on www.turtlediary.com and www.uniqueteachingresources.com. The assessment can be used as both formative at the beginning of the term to see what sight words the student already possesses. As a summative assessment towards the end of the term to determine how many sight words the student has learned. Either way these assessments should be considered formal assessments. These assessment should take approximately five to fifteen minutes depending on whether it is at the beginning or end of the term. It should be given as an individual assessment and can be given verbally from the teacher. The age range of the assessments above are from Pre k through first grade.
